Our Muir Woods and Wine County tour guide will pick you up early in the morning from your San Francisco
hotel in downtown or Fisherman's Wharf area. You'll make a short stop at the beautiful Palace of Fine Arts
before crossing the Golden Gate Bridge into the Marin Headlands for a ten minute stop where you can enjoy
a less frequented vista point for spectacular views of Alcatraz, Angel Island, the Bay Bridge, and the
San Francisco skyline.
From there, your journey continues into the Muir Woods National Monument where the Sequioa Redwood
Trees grow for a an easy hike or walk through the best part of Muir Woods where you can stop to admire
the Redwood trees over 1,000 years old and over 240 feet tall.
After your short hike, the tour resumes through the Sonoma Wine Country and into historical downtown
Sonoma to get a real taste of the old west. In Sonoma, the once capital of the Independent Republic of California,
you'll visit the Solano Mission built under Mexican rule in 1823. You'll also get to visit the old army
barracks, Hotel Toscano with its old west saloon, the Sonoma Cheese Factory where you can enjoy lunch,
and more!
Then, you'll be taken to three interesting and distinct wineries where you can try delicious hand-crafted
wines. You will also learn about the wine making process and what makes California wine country so special.
Finally, you'll drive through Marin County towards Sausalito and its picturesque floating homes,
a great photo opportunity of San Francisco. Then, drive back to San Francisco or take an optional ferry back
to Fisherman's Wharf or the San Francisco ferry terminal.
